Abstract or Introduction

The United Nations is an Inter-Governmental Organization, with the major aims and objective of peace, security and stability of the international community, since its establishment in 1945. Taking over the League of Nations, the organization have not retarded in issues of peace keeping, and conflict resolution in the Middle East. The conflict between Israel and Palestine over Jerusalem have been termed 'a big question’ posing as a problem, even after the partition of the region in 1947, and it is earnestly wished to be resolved amicably, amongst the parties involved.

However, this study examines and analyses the intervention of the United Nations in the Middle East since its establishment in 1945, and to examine and investigate on the conflict between Israel and Palestine over Jerusalem, and how co-existence can be achieved in the region between the Arab Nations and the State of Israel. The major objective of this study is to establish at the end a sustainable peace and how it can be achieved between the Arabs and the state of Israel.
