Abstract or Introduction
Land conflict in Acholi has often been expounded in reference to the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) civil war – that is, the long period of LRA civil war and displacement that led to loss of land boundaries and alteration of socio-cultural norms and practices which weakened the institution of traditional authority in handling land-related matters.
This paper argues that the dispute over land in Acholi is a result of the incongruity based on principles between the modern state and traditional Acholi land institution, which work parallel to each other hence producing confusions that trigger conflict.
