Summary

This text is about the principal physics behind skydiving. It deals with the interaction between gravity and air resistance. Using experimental data the drag coefficient for an average skydiver is determined. Furthermore, the possibilities to reduce the air resistance by minimizing the projected cross-sectional area of the body perpendicular to the flow direction or decreasing the density of the fluid through which the body is moving, by jumping from higher altitudes were examined.
